what is the value of 24 ÷ 4 (8 ÷ 4)

since

24/4 x (8/4) is 6x2, then 6x2 is 12, so it’s 12

6/2(1+2) is equal to 6/2x3, which is 6/6, which is just 1

No, its 3. You have to follow order of operations, which means you have to start with the bit that’s in the parentheses (8/4).

24÷4(8÷4)
(8÷4)=2
4×2=8
24÷8=3

I’m pretty sure i’m correct?

Theoretically your right, but for that sort of equation you have to follow order of operations:

  • Parentheses (8÷4)
  • Exponents N/A
  • Multiplication 4x2
  • Division 24÷8

but it was already used?

Multiplication and division are equivalents

Calculate what’s inside the parentheses first.
8÷4 = 2

24÷(4×2)
= 24÷8
=3

Make a debate thread about this or something
