Trains operate in the thar. There are halt stations at most of the settlements. Trains halt there if the passenger informs the TTE or Guard in advance.
Also RSRTC operates buses to those areas.
Haryana Roadways, Himachal Parivahan, Uttarakhand Parivahan, Jammu Kashmir SRTC operate buses that go into the Indian part of the Himalayas.
IR is also building the Char Dham rail line in the Himalayas.
Maharashtra SRTC, Karnataka SRTC, Kadamba Transport Corp. (Goa SRTC) operate buses in the Konkan region which go deep inside.
Also IR runs trains in this region, which also has halt station, like the Thar.
Assam STC, Megahalya SRTC and basically SRTCās of the 7 sisters operate buses there.
Cars are 1000x more convenient compared to public transit. You can go wherever you could possibly want, whenever you want. Yes a tank of gas may cost more than a bus ticket, but that tank of gas can take you anywhere down any stretch of road. A bus ticket? Well that only takes you along a bus network.
Cars are more practical for doing things too. Take skiing for example. I could either wear all of my gear, clutch my snowboard between my knees for the 2+ hour bus ride and hope I donāt whack my seat mate with the edge while simultaneously dripping snow everywhere, or, I could load up my crate into the back of my car, throw two snowboards and a pair of skis on the rack (I prefer to have variety throughout the day) and drive 1hr (half the time) in comfort.
Nope
If my dad drops me to school by car, I take 20 minutes to reach - Free
If I take the auto, I take 40 minutes to reach - 100 rupees
If I take the bus, I take 10 minutes to reach - 5 rupees
To go to Andheri, if my dad drops me or if I get an Uber, Iāll take more than an hour to reach - Free or 500 rupees
If I take the bus, Iāll take 45 minutes and if I take the train, I reach in 30 minutes - 10 rupees (bus), 20 rupees (train, 2nd class), 90 rupees (train 1st class), 110 rupees (AC train)
They generally donāt mind
You open the trunk, load your stuff, close it and board
That top one is a highly modified tour bus. The bottom image can be done in a Miata. But what do both images have in common? They arenāt transit routes.
You keep missing the point- buses only drive on bus routes. If you want to go anywhere else, not near a bus stop, youāre s.o.l.
