Cars vs. Public Transit

See what I mean? Those actually look comfortable, unlike the cheap boating cushion strapped to some rods.

What if it’s a really long distance…

imagine i want to go to sanjay gandhi national park or maybe aarey forest (lets do this first and then sgnp) from Mulund for eg. (one of the northernmost regions of mumbai central line region, both locations lie on western line region)

First few steps are common for both locations

  1. Buses till Mulund Railway station (east or west, depending on where you start)
  2. Get on a train to Ghatkopar or Dadar
If Ghatkopar - Switch to Metro-1 and go till Andheri or D.N Nagar or Western Express Highway
From Andheri switch to Western line and go till Goregaon (for aarey) or Borivali (for SGNP)
From WEH switch to Metro 7A and go till Borivali (for SGNP) and 203 (I guess) to SGNP and walk from there (or take one of those vogo cycles)
From D.N Nagar switch to Metro 2 and go till Goregaon (for Aarey)
If Dadar - Switch to Western line and go till Andheri or Goregaon or Borivali
From Andheri switch to Metro and do the same thing as above
From Goregaon take bus to Aarey (idk numbers) and from Borivali take bus till SGNP (ig 203 goes through here but there are more routes)

cycling

they are really good (and are ventilated)

those are imported from Europe and some are made here locally (like those large yellow and those large dark blue seats)

idk why i did this but yes

Yeah biking sure does make a difference over a very long distance…

basically bus/train till as close as they go and then probably a taxi/auto if im not satisfied and then i’d rent a vogo and go to wherever i want to go

how long are you talking?

give in km and not freedom units
i cant understand freedom units

Miles? Never once used miles.

Also, pretty sure that didn’t originate in America either, so.

Both of these lie on a transit line, and I’m assuming they are still within the sprawl of Mumbai? Based on Bonaire’s question, I’m guessing he’s talking about what if you wanted to go somewhere remote.

like matheran maybe?
or lonavala?

both are pretty remote but are still served by trains and buses and matheran is completely car free so they have a small steam tramway
or is he talking as far as kashmir or the northeast which have poor rail connectivity but are very well connected by buses and taxis?

Hmm…

Let’s just say 800km.

Cool. That’s great that a city of over 21M has some metro lines.

*suburban trains in video

4 metro lines functioning + 8 in advanced stages of construction

hmmm lemme see if there is something that far

What’s the difference? Train is train, and if it runs from one point in a metro area to another, I’d consider it a metro line.
