Cars vs. Public Transit

A380 solos both

If they’re Tata buses, then I highly doubt any of that is true, other than the cheap bit.

Yeah, seems pretty dumb to me. It’s just automated tailgating which is just about the worst idea proposed.

so what?

trains would be more useful in cities that are spread out

have you been in one?

exactly
imagine one of the cars suddenly braking

Ah yes, I love to go off roading in my train.

I love to go from a small town to another town in a train. (Can’t)

I just prefer freedom tbh.

No, but it’s a pretty reasonable assumption that they’re a bit crap.

Smooth could be possible due to the sheer weight (because it’s a bus), but if they use a leaf spring + solid axle then they aren’t going to smooth at all (most modern buses use an airbag system + solid axles).

Sturdy? Is it made of steel or wood, because for some reason, a lot of the stuff you guys have there look like they’re made of wood.

Safe? It’s a bus. That answers the question. And the answer is no.

Cheap? No doubts there. It’s something produced by Tata.

Reliable? If by reliable you mean it can drag along for a couple months before needing a complete rebuild, sure. If you’re trying to compare it to a Toyota in terms of reliability, then not a chance.

Soft? It’s a city bus. Not a chance in hell there. If it was a rented limo coach, then sure, but it’s about the complete opposite of a limo coach.

Comfortable seats? I would hardly call hard plastic or some cheap fabric stapled to plywood comfortable.

seriously?
:brain: :100:

random indians going between places with population of around 2000 people by train

so do i

this

they’re all steel
newer ones even have some aluminium for some reason

(well except the blue-yellow buses in kolkata)

it is actually safe
i’ve seen and been involved in bus accidents and have never been hurt/never seen anyone get hurt

i was talking about ticket prices but anyway
ashok leyland’s are cheaper tho

these buses ran for 10 years without getting rebuilt and then some got rebuilt (Mostly ghatkopar and dindoshi depot buses because they suck)

youve definitely not seen those bench seats
steel frame+10000 tons of foam+leather cover
they had achieved peak komfort

most pre 2015 SLF buses have these seats :

and the newer ones have these :

(B.E.S.T uses the same seats but in grey)

My guy, a church bench looks more comfortable than those things.

you cant make assumptions without trying them first

Then why do you love being packed together like sardines on a packed bus or train, with no freedom whatsoever? With a car you can go where you want, whenever you want.

i can go wherever i want at whatever time i please because i would not have to wait 1hr for a bus or train
i’d just have to show up at a bus stop/train station and one would arrive within 5 mins (unless its a C- bus or a long distance train, for which i’d have to wait 15min or reach 10min before the train arrives)

I maintain my opinion.

only select services are packed only during rush hours
otherwise they’re generally empty

ok
i cant change your opinion
but try them before making random guesses out of bias

What if there aren’t any busses where you want to go…

These are the interiors of my local bus thing. Top one is a coach style that I used to take to/from school (~30mi one way), bottom is a more city bus style that they run around Glenwood, to New Castle, and on their non-BRT HWY82 routes.

i can always switch
thats not a big deal considering most buses run at an average frequency of 10 minutes
i dont think a 10min wait is that much of a big deal or i can always take the train (they go everywhere, literally) or i can take the plane or a ferry incase i want to go to ellora or smth

You don’t understand. Like, in a packed forest for example. Or the mountains.

pretty nice

even we have those coach bus style seats

i have a weekly pass for them (140 rupees for my route) and i always try to get one back home from school lol
better than the train but slower

i can walk
