We’re already getting snow for the season here.

Huh? It’s still August.

4300m peaks. It’s not even unheard of for us to get snow (usually just dustings) in July on some peaks.

I bought a thing.

It’s a 1982 and it doesn’t even have 3000mi on it.

Very lucky, wish I had snow…

Hope you don’t scratch the paint off, that’d be a shame.

@barbadian Did you catch the Russian Air Force IL-62 and another IL-76 which was probably carrying weapons that flew close to Barbados yesterday?

sat in a storage unit for a few decades?

Pretty much. Guy I bought it from is the 2nd owner and he got it with like 20mi or something in '07. Rode it a bit, but was more of a cruiser guy so he parked it in his barn.

RIP KC-10. 1 of 2 left. taken earlier on its last flight.

Edit: seems to be flying again today so maybe the pilots saying it was the last may be them retiring

Extremely sad, way too early… I wish I could see the last flight…

kinda is, all they’ll do now is sit in the desert. still kinda young, at least in USAF years. i’m honestly surprised they came over to me. I probably wont see the actual last flight either, way to far north of SUU where the last two are and i’ve only seen 2 of them, including this one, in the last year visit here so unlikely to happen again before retirement next month.

I can’t think of any other operators outside of 10 Tanker who’ll have DC/KC/MD-10s after the USAF retires them.

edit: Omega Aerial Refueling has some apparently, a -30 and -40. And Project Orbis a MD-10. i’ll just have to visit the airport when the 10 Tankers are active a bit more before they eventually get rid of those

Orbis (Flying eye hospital) operates a single MD-10, which is the final MD-10 operated by FedEx. (Basically just FedEx crews on their days off)

TAB cargo was once the last commercial DC-10 operator with a single MD-10. Luckily not the last anymore if you look below.

CargoThree recently got one ex FedEx MD-10 delivered a couple of weeks ago, they will get 10 more I think. TransCarga is getting some too to replace their A300s. (rip, I always loved their retro livery)

Next up is Omega, they operate a couple of DC-10s, like some ex RNLAF (Dutch) KDC-10s, only 3 ever existed, I was lucky enough to catch one up close. They also operate some other random DC-10s and have a lot in storage. They even have one of the last pax 707s in operation.

Their most valuable one is a DC-10-40, very rare, last one airworthy. It even still has JAL seats from the 60s!!!

I might be wrong, but all of omegas planes are passenger ones, but all of them are also tankers. (Some have a boom while some just have tiny pods)

I just checked, TransCarga retired their A300s last year, rip… Was wondering why I haven’t seen them on FlightRadar24 in quite a while…

They currently operate no planes.

I really hope that one of their upcoming MD-10s gets the retro livery.

Noticed the winglets, turns out they’re one of the oldest A300s still operating, both are 41 years old.
