…it’s more economical for small stores to put beverage especially bottled soft drinks(which are cheaper than in cans) in plastic bags. The glass bottled soft drinks often have a cost and returning it to their suppliers would net them some money back (if that is the arrangement with the supplier). Also, plastic bags are cheaper to buy and more easier to store rather than say a styrofoam cup or plastic cup, so it’s also cost-efficient.
Also it’s more prominent in Singapore and Thailand
