Define “honest way”. Yes, you certainly may earn enough to live a comfortable life while being employed, but those who own the means of production are almost always at the top of the socio-economic ladder.

That was worded poorly on my part; what I meant was that, if the means of production were owned communally, it could be modified according to collective human needs, and not only that of a specific group. The concept of social class should not be defined solely based on financial status; instead it is the property relations (i.e. what you own) between different people in a society that ultimately lead to class divisions.
