The Railways has announced a new set of trains irl
250kmph on broad gauge!!
They are upgrading all tracks to 160 and major trunk routes to 220kmph+
New trains will be pendolinos and have aluminium bodies
Suburban trains will all become like the new ones in Mumbai (aircon and with auto doors) and multiple unit sets will replace most trains
All locomotive hauled trains will get air con LHB/Tejas coaches with automatic doors and all current LHB coaches will get retrofitted with auto doors after successful pilot trials on shatabdi trains
All stations will be redeveloped and modernized with work currently in progress in almost 1000 stations
Most of the prototypes and designs are already ready
Station designs have been approved and regional trainsets that can touch 160kmph have been ordered
Vande Bharat will have 4 types the current one, 2nd gen which will be aluminium built sleepers touching 200kmph, 3rd gen which will be aluminium built seaters with pendolino tech and articulated bogies touching 220kmph and 4th gen will be 3rd gen but touching 250kmph

With 100% electrification right around the corner, all diesel locomotives will be retired and replaced
The DFC’s will carry a bulk of the cargo traffic, freeing up space for faster and more frequent passenger services
They are already planning to run Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat trains at 160kmph and its going to happen by the end of this year or in early 2024

Couple that with the booming aviation sector, mega expressways, improved public transit, new HSR lines, RRTS, 1000000000000000 metro systems
