I remember it was the day before I started 6th grade, and I checked the radar, and there were like 20 planes flying over GRR going to ORD, so my mom drove like a maniac to get to the airport. So we watched about 30 landings from 7-9

This is not a good sign:

That many planes, most departing from GJT, and all circling that same spot is almost a guarantee that there’s a fire there (on that hillside, not at GJT).
