Classic Aviation Debate

I don’t exactly consider the MD-11 a classic.
The DC-10 is though.

I think a classic for me is older than 20 or 25 years and mostly retired

Then that begs the question: is the A340 a classic?

Classic, no

Retro, maybe. Depends on the paint

First flight in 1991, so maybe?

Like age? Eh…

Is the 747 a classic?

Also mostly retired but its technology is almost identical to that of the A330.

I mean out of 1500+ built, I’d say like 300-400 are flying so yes

note this is the 747 family as a whole

…which is still going strong…

747-8 is kinda a classic

…and has no sign of ending for maybe the next 15-20 years.

747-8 and MAX are a great case of “well yes but actually no”

Idk, to me the 8 feels like a classic but not the max

No, no, no, it had its first flight in 2016. Newer than the 787, newer than the A350.

The better A330s? They’ll be retired soon :disappointed:

probably bc only 150 or smth like that were built, so not many flying

compare that to 600+ -400s

Actually no, considering that the last A330ceo rolled off the production line not too long ago.

Most airlines will soon though

And the 767, I’m pretty sure those are still being made
