An airline isn’t going to purchase a plane based on its looks. In what way is the E2 actually better than the A220 (i.e range, field performance, capacity, etc.)?

E190-E2 take-off: 1450m
A220-100 take-off: 1463m

The E2 isn’t much worse off, in fact it’s slightly better.
