If you’re laptop is strong enough with good cooling, then you’re fine. Running any sim on something designed for work (like a macbook) would be really, really difficult.
My friend runs BeamNG.drive on his gaming laptop, and he had to create a “forced induction” cooling system for it (he just puts the computer on a milk crate with a fan below it).

That actually happens in every small city/territory with a high population. It is demand driven, and basically the high demand is increasing the prices due to low supply of land.
