Their design is pretty interesting, but the Volvo drivetrain has been pretty weak for quite some time. Particularly their AWD vehicles compared to those of Subaru, Audi, or Mitsubishi (though part of that comes down to the added complexity of Volvo’s AWDs being a traditional part-time AWD system whers as Subaru’s symmetrical and Audi’s quattro systems are more of a full-time 4WD).
