I just noticed something.
The 777-300ER replaced the 747-400 and the A321neo is in the process of replacing the 737-800; it also seems like China Airlines is trying to replace the A330 with the 787. However, what exactly was the purpose of the A350 in the airline’s fleet? We may never actually know…

My best guess for the A350 is that they were introduced to replace the A340-300, but interestingly enough, the airline has double the amount of A350s than they had A340s, so there leaves the possibility that the A350 was actually taken by China Airlines to serve more than just an A340 replacement…
