Watch out for ‘fake’ Asian food though, I’ll explain what that is.
Especially in Europe and America, people modify (usually) Chinese dishes and they taste nothing like the original. Some don’t even exist in China.
For example:
Orange Chicken doesn’t even exist in China (or other countries in the region with a significant Chinese population, like Malaysia, Singapore etc.)
As I said above, many seemingly authentic dishes taste nothing like the original in many Chinese takeaways in the West. They are either too sweet, cooked very differently or have some ingredients that don’t even belong being added.
Now you may ask how I know. I have tried ‘European Chinese’ food before, and the only thing I’ll say is that I’m never going back to those restaurants. We have friends and relatives in the USA that feel the same way about ‘modified’ Chinese food.
