ya pretty much. The quake actually happened back in march it was a 6.5 but didnt leave any damage but a few cracks.
It’s funny how SLC shutdown from a 5.7 lol
It’s like here they just race the runway inspection car down the runways and open the airport back up
For one runway a 777 landed after the quake and the tower told the other planes it was safe to land. They didn’t even inspect that runway
ya well the 6.5 came from a fault in rural idaho. It did cause parts of a highway to be buried in 50 feet of avalanche snow and for a lake to liquefy and the shore to slide under the lake.
Oh that’s fun
Not lol
So the shore line just sank
Oof
pretty much. Its awesome what nature can do. But there was way more damage from the 6.9 we got in 1983 it caused this scarp.

Amateur numbers lol
Thing is our earthquakes are shallow. and are felt far. That specific earthquake was in central/east idaho and still had a 6.0 intensity in boise. The 6.5 in march was felt in seattle, vegas, salt lake, and Edmonton.
Yeah that’s crazy
Anywhere outside of CA earthquakes are felt further away because the rock is colder and there are fewer faults to absorb the waves
Like the 7.1 in July of 2019, was only an intensity 4 here even though it was a 9 in Ridgecrest
ya we have had over 1,000 aftershocks from march. well we also have alot of volcanic activity here as well look up "craters of the moon.
Its also crazy how the intensity drops there.
It’s so crazy how old the volcanoes are in the west
Until you get to NorCal and PNW. Then you have the traditional volcanoes
ya we have a thing here called the henry’s fork caldera see that massive circle!?

Why was that flagged
system flag
Oh the copied image maybe
it was restored. isnt it crazy looking!
very weird. When it erupted a few million years ago ash fell in the gulf of mexico
